Wax On…Wax Off
Hey there!
The snow is finally here to stay, isn’t it? Winter in Minnesota can be tough on everything and anything, your dog’s paws included. Be sensitive and care for your dog’s feet like you do your own. Preparing your pup physically & mentally in advance is highly recommended.
Just like Mr. Miyagi had Daniel painting stuff and waxing his car all summer. Wax on, wax off. Wax on, wax off. Boooooorrrrrring. And Daniel didn’t see the point. But Mr. Miyagi was secretly teaching Daniel’s muscles karate moves and building his muscle memory. So when the lessons actually began, Daniel found it relatively easy to learn.
Hold that thought. Now back to protecting your dog’s paws from winter and snow.
If your dog loves to wear booties, that’s great! Your problems are solved and you can go back to watching the movie.
If not, there are two ways to go about it.
Train your pup to wear them. This will take time & patience.
Put on that invisible boot (a.k.a. paw balm wax) from NaturalHound (an awesome local business in Morty’s network here in Anoka, MN) or musher’s secret.
Either way, keep a bowl of warm water and a towel just inside your door to wipe your dog’s paws when you get back home.
What does Mr. Miyagi have to do with any of this? Before your try to put on booties or apply any paw care product on your dog’s paws, make sure you give your dog enough time to adjust to this weird sensation and feeling. Just like the Karate Kid, mastery in karate is a long-term journey, and it only becomes natural after tons of practice.
PS. Paw balm wax can be used year-round to protect your dog’s paw pads from rough or hot pavement, snow, and ice, even dry air. It acts as a natural protection and barrier against rough conditions, which can cause dry, cracked, and painful paw pads, in all climates and seasons.
PPS. Here is my Not-So-Guilty-Pleasure Wax On Wax Off scene! Also, Cobra Kai - The Karate Kid Saga Continues viewing is here. Binge-watch party anyone??
