Decision Makers
Hey there!
I know you are more than capable of making decisions for yourself. But do you believe dogs can make their own decisions? Or do you think that you have to make all their decisions for them?
My short answer is YES. I make decisions for me and my dog. I do believe Morty is definitely capable of making her own decisions - both right and wrong ones. I am her guardrails keeping her safe.
I truly didn’t know at the time how one decision I made for Morty ten years ago would lead me to where I am today. Here goes.
When I adopted Morty in April 2011, I only had ONE goal in mind - taking her places with me.
That's a very simple goal. And YES, also impactful, I later learned. As time went by, I excitedly added more places to our list, and gradually & happily crossed them off. I loved exploring with Morty - experiencing new trails, checking out cute little towns, riding elevators, fishing, sniffing around, paddle boarding, camping, going thru a car wash, etc.
But then there were the times when things didn’t quite work out.
I am sure you all know what I mean.
That's how it all began for me, and how I started weeding out things that didn’t fit my lifestyle. Knowing what I am willing to compromise & what is non-negotiable. And started working on achieving my one single goal and beyond with Morty. I am not special. I am just a regular ordinary person. But what I have done consistently in the past served me well. That is, you must be decisive about:
Who you are
What you need
And what you want out of life, with or without your dog(s) in it.
If you want to change the landscape of your life & your dog:
Go all in ... Yes!
Go gradually ... Perfect!
Go slow & steady ... Awesome!
Go half-ass... NO! NO! NO! Big No-No.
Here is what I believe to be true, not only about how you treat yourself but also your dog(s).
Don’t sell yourself short.
Don’t compare yourself to others.
To get what you want, you have to show up and do the work.
All of these don't come easily at first, but just like Pringles “Once you pop, the fun don't stop.”
So start popping some fun with your dog(s). It's so addictive (just like Pringles).
